Referral Information

Service Users must be aged over 18 and have an address in County Roscommon.  If you would like to refer someone to APSI then please download and complete the APSI Referral Form for Roscommon.

Please send the completed referral form to Roscommon APSI:

Guide to Referring

One of the aims of our accessible assessment service is the rapid identification of suicide risk. Additionally, individuals suitable for our Primary Care Service and those with Mild-to-Moderate mental health difficulties with a low level of risk. General Practitioners are asked to continue referring, by phone or in writing, Moderate-to-Severe mental health presentations to either:

  • Secondary Care Mental Health Services, Acute Unit, Roscommon Hospital (Fax No. 090 662 8182) or

Secondary Care Mental Health Services

Mild-to-moderate** presentations with low risk, or aftercare post-risk

  • Depressive disorders
  • Anxiety disorders (e.g., Generalised Anxiety Disorder; Panic disorder; Social phobia; OCD; Health anxiety)
  • Interpersonal difficulties
  • Stress
  • Low self-esteem
  • Coping with physical illness
  • Bereavement and non-complex loss
  • Life cycle development issues
  • Problems of adjustment
Moderate**-to-severe presentations or active risk

  • Severe and chronic unipolar depression
  • Bipolar Disorder
  • Severe and chronic anxiety (e.g., complex post-traumatic stress disorder)
  • Schizophrenia & related disorders
  • Substance abuse/dependence
  • Personality & behavioural disorders
  • Cognitive impairment
  • Dementia
  • Eating disorders
  • Somatoform disorders

* Moderate presentations may be referred onto APSI. However, if a presentation has a level of severity or complexity that suggests low intensity psychological interventions (e.g. guided self-help, brief CBT) may be inappropriate, please refer to our Secondary Care Mental Health Services.
